Samu is the Zen word for working with clear awareness, or working meditation.
In the Zen tradition, working is an essential aspect of the practice. With heart and soul you dedicate yourself to any task, whether it is cleaning, cooking, pulling weeds of writing emails. If you are ’empty’ within you can do your work all the better. No space left for the ego with all its personal complications. How liberating.
A samu day in the Memlingstraat opens and ends with some yoga or meditation, but mostly we will do the necessary work in the house and garden.
At intervals we may sound a mindfulness-bell, reminding us to be fully in the moment. It is a very relaxing and joyful way to bring mindfulness into daily life!
The samu day is for free and we will serve some refreshments, as we are grateful for your help and company.
